Gregory S. Fryer has practiced corporate and securities law for more than 25 years. Before moving to Maine in 1985 to head Verrill Dana's securities practice, he practiced law in New York (Chadbourne & Parke) and Atlanta (McKenna, Long & Aldridge). He is former Chair of the Business Law section of the Maine State Bar Association and, since 1993, has served as Chair of its Securities Law subcommittee. He was actively involved in the Bar Committee responsible for drafting the new Maine Business Corporation Act and related forms, and chaired the Bar Committee that reviewed and commented on the new Maine Uniform Securities Act. Greg's principal areas of practice include corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of securities, SEC regulation and reporting, and venture capital. Greg also has extensive experience in venture capital transactions. He has served as lead counsel to either the investors or the portfolio company in connection with investments. In March 2007, Greg was appointed a member of the Maine Small Enterprise Growth Fund, a state-owned venture capital fund.
